To qualify for this program:

1. You must be a Russell County Resident and must have a commodity card given to you by the Russell County Fiscal Court. To receive a card, you must bring in documentation showing county residency, your income papers (bank statement or state income papers), and your I.D. card (Driver’s License).
2. You must be within the stated income guidelines, which is set by the Department of Agriculture. Example income guideline for a family of 4 would be earnings no more than $4,810 per month.

This past year we have averaged around 355 families a month participating in the commodities program. The commodity program only costs the county on average $200 per month. That is less than 61 cents per family. This program would not have been possible without the support of the Russell County Fiscal Court, a great group of volunteers, and the generosity of others.
